Mid-level interview questionAsked at Atlassian · interview write-up
Design a system that routes incoming bug reports to the right team, using text and log features, labels from past assignments and a human fallback.
Model answer
Labels come from historical assignments, but tickets get reassigned, so use the team that finally resolved each one and drop teams that no longer exist. Features: title and description embeddings, stack frames and error signatures from logs, component and reporter. Route automatically only when confidence clears a threshold; otherwise a triager picks from the top three, and their choice becomes a label. Track per-team accuracy and reassignment rate.
